Details

We specialise in traditional Japanese hairdressing scissor sharpening. We can restore scissors to an 'as new' condition or better in 99% of cases. Save money with our Industry leading prices and workmanship.

We guarantee the highest quality hand sharpening by Japanese technicians and return by registered delivery. We welcome all makes of scissors for sharpening and service.

Regular servicing extends the life of your scissors, keeps them a joy to use and enables you to be creative and inspired by your work.

It is recommended that if you cut between six and eight clients with wet hair a day using Japanese/convex edged scissors, they should be serviced every six months. If you do the same numbers but cut dry hair service every four months. It soon adds up. We recommend servicing 6 monthly or as soon as damage occurs.

How to tell if they need sharpening/Servicing.

  • Pulling hair

  • Not slicing or cutting

  • Will not balance

  • Folding hair at the tips

  • Tired aching hands ( may be think about changing your scissors)

The Test:

  • Take a single sheet of toilet tissue

  • Separate the two halves

  • Take one of the halves and wet it

  • Hold it in one hand and try to cut it

Sharp scissors cut and slice. Blunt scissors tear or fold the tissue. Sharpening and servicing is now due to prolong the life of your scissor. "Note" It's not a good idea to cut paper with your scissors because it blunts them, but if you are testing because you are worried about sharpness it's probably time for a service anyway.

What Happens:

Scissors are dismantled, cleaned, inspected & tested for defects and damage. Then sharpened and hand honed using a combination of modern and traditional methods using the very best equipment, professional abrasives and polishing compounds are used throughout this process. Blades are then reset and any parts replaced free if needed. They are reassembled oiled balanced and tested again for perfect function, before dispatch.

NOTE: However if your scissors are in a very poor condition we may have to return them to you without charge. Having done the best we can without quibble or fuss. Sorry.
